Zerebos One of the most expressive albums I've listened to in a long time. So many artists focus on telling a story through words. Rachel is able to convey story and emotion through rhythm, pace, and melody. Favorite track: dancing upon our graves.

I’ve forsaken the blinders and to hell with the yearning it took me lifetimes to realize that this book is for burning

no wave the land-lock’d water stirr’d the crags were white as cream and I mark’d my love by candle-light sewing her long white seam I climb’d to reach her cottage door o sweetly my love sings like a shaft of light her voice breaks forth... for o, for o, with brows bent low by the candle’s flickering gleam her wedding gown it was she wrought sewing the long white seam for o, for o, with brows bent low by the candle’s flickering gleam her wedding gown it was she wrought sewing the long white seam

betelgeuse burns like a lantern tonight atop her dim celestial her dim celestial stage auburn flares bursting in bountiful leaps as she twirls in her firmament engulfing the hapless room of heavenly bodies within her warm corporeal crest she knows her youngest days lay behind her yet she has traveled light years to experience the searing bliss dwelling within this moment passing through her skin in a solar maelstrom of sweat, lace and elemental grace after the spotlight has died in the green room mirror she counts the wrinkles on her cheeks with a sublime smile like a bruised passionfruit poised to plummet from its vine

feed me with solitude satiate my need for knives and needles and bleed me to desiccation let the noble rot set in skin withered and blistered distill my history inter me into intoxicant but keep only the meekest sweetness feed me with all your moods misconstrued and unrenewed feed me with tannic toxins and box me in to your mold controlled past my peak until I am nothing more than must

On the days that I feel Like the world is an empty hallway I fill that void with your face In repose upon my stomach Your eyes a feline glimmer Lips upturned and hair cascading In gentle helixes down your neck In that space encased in glacial ice We are traveling without moving Beneath the crystalline stillness Of your dark satin bedsheets I sleep within your warmth And dream undisturbed Until morning

so dwell with me inside these walls until the colors dissolve into dull grey and the creeping vines strangle away our mangled remains into the soil’s warm depths where they will linger in languid stillness until the final days come and the black banners flutter the gobsmacked jackboots will behold you and I and everyone we’ve ever loved hand in skeletal hand... dancing upon our graves

about

the eclectic debut album written and composed by non-binary transfeminine artist rachel underspoon. an electronic mind-trip unbound by genre borders wherein spoken-word poetry meets soaring psychedelic synths, complex drum loops and layered distortion.

rachel's influences are diverse as her taste in music, spanning from bowery electric, slowdive and ulrich schnauss to porcupine tree, kae tempest, let's eat grandma, thrill kill kult, tori amos, SOPHIE, speed metal and instrumental hip-hop, and she switches between and melds them at will on these fifteen tracks.
